Make A Website Quick Guide
This page is for those of you that need to make a website like yesterday. I briefly go over what it takes to create a website and how you can have a website up and running today.
Note: I'm in the process of making How-to videos to provide you with extra support.
What Do I Need To Make A Webiste?
Believe it or not, it doesn't take a lot to make a website.
If you haven't read through my free Plan A Website ebook, make sure you do, before you continue on.
It's only a few pages long and something that I strongly urge you to do before you create a website.
All you need to get a website up and running is:
Think of the web host provider as a storage unit that will hold all of your web pages, videos, images and whatever else you decide to add to your website.
Since the web host will be responsible for keeping all of your web pages safe you'll want to choose carefully.
Make sure that the web host you choose has a good track record and people who are satisfied with their service.
The last thing you want is for your web pages to get screwed up because you put them in the hands of the wrong web host provider, which is what happens a lot when people decide to make a website free.
For years I have used Homestead for my web hosting company for years. They host all of my websites and I have been more than satisfied.
I have never had to worry about my websites being down or something terrible happening to my web pages that I've worked so hard to create.
I recommend them to you. They server over 20 million customers today.
It's a rather successful company and has recently joined hands with Intuit, check out the Intuit Website Commercial
You've got to have a domain name, it's the only way visitors will be able to find your website. Think of a domain name as the web address for your website.
Your domain name can have 63 characters which can consist of letters, numbers and hyphens. Just because you can use 63 characters, you shouldn't.
if you did use that many it would look something like this:
http://www.Pardon-Me-If-My-Domain-Name-Is-Hard-To-Remember.com
Make sure that you choose a domain name that is short and to the point.
If your website is about dogs and cats, you don't want to come up with a domain name that says something about Dolphins. Duh... right?
.com is the KING!
They say that you want to make sure you use .com for your domain name... and you should, but let me tell you.... don't have a heart attack if you have tried and tried, and can't seem to find a good domain name with a .com extension.
There are other options, and .biz and .net are good ones.
Most web host require you to register a domain name else where then transfer it.
With Homestead, you don't have to worry about the hassle. Your can register your domain name with Homestead, and it's FREE!
Well, you've found me!
It's nice to have someone to help you through the website creation process.
